Terrence Edmund “Terry” Markwart, 66, of Berthoud, CO, passed away Wednesday evening, June 3, 2015, at TRU Community Care, in Lafayette, CO, after a courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Terry was born January 5, 1949, in Brown City, MI, the son of Robert William and Audrey Jane (Parker) Markwart. Terry graduated from Capac High School and Northwood University in Midland, MI. Terry devoted 30 years of his professional life working for Canon USA, Inc. During that time, he was a Director of National Accounts in the Imaging Technologies Communications Group and a Senior Advisor for Government Sales with the Professional Engineering and Solutions Group. During his tenure at Canon, Terry pressed for innovation and helped develop specialized optical equipment that is now used by the U.S Navy Seals. He also led the effort to bring cameras and video into classrooms as tools to enhance and expand education opportunities for children and adults. These efforts were recently recognized and honored by Colorado Senator Cory Gardner. In his free time and, more recently, in his retirement, Terry enjoyed photography, skiing, golf, and riding his tractors. His photographs will always hold a special place in the hearts of his friends and family, for whom he captured many special moments and memories. He is survived by his wife, Susan Roeser of Berthoud, CO; his children, Lindsay Markwart of Baltimore, MD and Tyler Markwart of Seattle, Washington; Stepchildren Katy Roeser New York, James Roeser, Colorado, parents, Robert and Audrey Markwart of Yale, brother, Luther (Terri) Markwart, McLean, Virginia, sister Melanie (Jon) Arnold of Satellite Beach, Florida and sister Heidi (David) Devereux of Clarkston, Michigan, sister-in-law Thelma Markwart Shawnee Kansas, Brother-in-law Lee Magneson, Bemus Point, New York, brother-in-laws, Stephen (Leslie)Fischer and Kevin (Patricia) Donahue, and cousin Judith Markwart, Lapeer.. Terry was preceded in death by his sister Julianne Magneson (2009), of Port Charlotte, Florida and Andrew Markwart (2006), of Shawnee, Kansas, his grandparents John and Julia Markwart and Jess and Anna Parker. The family will honor and celebrate Terry’s life on Friday, June 12, 2015, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac. Friends and family are invited to visit and share memories of Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Capac, MI with visitation beginning at 1:30. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Sarah Flatt, will officiate. Burial will follow at Lynn Township Cemetery, Lynn Township.
